I get it! You are a health junkie; You’ve tried vegan, raw and maybe even switched to paleo, you may have tried macrobiotic, Ketogenic Diet or the Whole30 Diet. You’ve reduced your sugar, cut out the gluten and downed daily shots of wheatgrass.
You may be seeing an acupuncturist, therapist, massage therapist, hypnotherapist and doing regular fertility yoga.
BUT you are still not pregnant.
You may have PCOS, endometriosis, low ovarian reserve, unexplained infertility or repeated miscarriage.
Infertility is heartbreaking and frustrating, I’ve been there.
It is especially frustrating when you are seemingly eating a healthy diet.
Although each of the diets have good components, none of these diets target infertility specifically. Gluten-free may be a good place to start, but diets heavy on animal products can contribute to ovulatory infertility. A vegan diet can be loaded with soy products that contain estrogen which is definitely not good for fertility. The main thing to remember is that although these diets or lifestyles may work for some people they don’t work for everyone.
That’s why its important to figure out what works for your body and which diet and lifestyle changes will help you become pregnant.

If you are like me you may have a food intolerance. This could be the cause of your infertility. It may sound crazy to think that your daily yogurt or seemingly healthy edamame habit could be contributing to your infertility. Once you know then you can take ACTION.

These foods could be causing inflammation in your body and preventing you from becoming pregnant.
Often an elimination diet can be very helpful to see if there is an intolerance.
This information is especially important if you suffer from asthma, ADHD, depression, diabetes, obesity, IBS, Crohn’s, Colitis, insomnia, acne, eczema, hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia, sinus infections, bladder infections, constipation, acid reflux, athlete’s foot (fungal infections) (just to name a few) as there may be a link to your infertility.

Also stress is a huge factor in infertility. Mind body techniques are very helpful such as meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, yoga, journaling, and guided imagery.
Alice Domar, PhD author of Conquering Infertility published an article in Fertility and Sterility that studied 184 women who were trying to get pregnant for one to two years.
The women were placed in 3 groups.
- mind/body group (used the mind-body techniques mentioned above) and met weekly
- support group (met weekly)
- control group that received no intervention.
The results were dramatic.
Within one year 55% of the mind-body group and 54% of the support group participants conceived pregnancies that resulted in a baby, compared to only 20% of the control group.
You can eat all the health foods in the world, but if you are not practicing self care and getting support you may not be able to get pregnant.
